With rates continuing to climb, Recycal sought a clean energy opportunity that let them take back control of their energy costs and contribute to their pro-renewable ethos. The director engaged with Choice Energy to create a turnkey solar solution that could be expanded to incorporate their other sites across Australia.

Choice Energy identified the business could save significantly through a 100kW solar system.

After the first project was complete, Choice Energy went on to design and install two other solar solutions in Rocherlea Tasmania, comprising of a 100kW and 60kW system.

Choice Energy acquired $140,000 worth of government funding to help the business fund the project.

As a result of installing solar, the business is projected to save close to $70,000 per year in total savings.

As part of Choice Energy's holistic energy services, Choice Energy also tendered out the business' four electricity contracts to our panel of energy retailers, securing competitive rates for the business and annual contract savings of more than $28,000 over three years.

After noticing a difference between Recycal's contract demand and their demand profile for one site, Choice Energy formally requested a demand reset through the local electricity distributor. This act alone reduced the monthly electricity bill from $38,000 to $6,600, saving the business $31,400 per month.

Choice Energy continues to deliver independent metering to the business in an effort to ensure the charges passed onto the business are accurate.

Choice Energy is currently completing a 100kW solar system on the business' battery recycling plant in Cambellfield to complete their sustainability mission.
