Case Study - Overeem Whisky
Overeem Whisky projected to save $20,000 annually through solar
Our Customer
Overeem Whisky was founded in 2007 by Tasmanian Whisky pioneer Casey Overeem in an ambitious quest to create one of the best whiskeys in the world.
After launching the first release in 2012 alongside daughter Jane, Overeem Single Malt Whisky quickly gained popularity throughout the country and received global praise.
Nationally, a cult following formed, seeing releases regularly sell out within minutes. Today, Jane and her husband Mark continue Casey’s legacy.
How we helped
Overeem was facing challenges from a lack of choice of energy retailers in the Tasmanian market - only two retailers at the time were supplying power to businesses.
The growth of the distillery meant power was being used 24 hours a day, and was over $6,000 per month.
The most expensive portion of their power was during the daytime, which led to the conversation for commercial solar with Choice Energy.
After running a feasibility assessment on the distillery's site, commercial solar was determined as a viable way to not only reduce the business' annual energy costs but as a way for the business to demonstrate its environmental mission.
